Bartender overview

Bartender lets you organize your menu-bar apps by hiding them, rearranging them, or moving them to Bartender's Bar. You can display the full menu bar, set options to have menu-bar items show in the menu bar when they have updated, or have them always visible in Bartender's Bar.

What's new in version 6.6.2

Memory usage should no longer creep up over longer sessions for users with triggers enabled.
Triggers should "update" more reliably.
Leaving open the layout page will no longer cause memory usage to stay high after editing your bar.
The layout page should no longer see "disappearing icons" when moving things around, or after leaving the app open for a while.
CPU usage should be lower in general, but in particular when using live mode.
In live mode, the menu bar should "settle" faster, and perform far fewer operations to get your bar into the correct order.
Battery usage should be reduced overall, but enabling the "lower power usage on battery" setting will lower this further, at the cost of some live updates being delayed. Generally this delay shouldn't be noticeable unless you're updating your menu bar constantly.
Fixes an issue with Bartender Bar showing your items when clicking an item already in the bar.

Why not? Installed v6.6.1. It addressed NOTHING regarding the stupidity of this garbage. I have three candidates for its replacement in mind, ready for testing. - - Why is there so much bad coding these days? Bad pay for good coders? Idiot company management? Not enough good coders to go around? Bad education systems spewing bad coders? - - I consider Bartender to be a great testing bed for *persistent* bad coding. 😛

I've tendered my resignation as a user of Bartender 6. I'm done with the incessant, never solved bugs. I'm looking elsewhere for a menubar organizer. All told, after all these iterations of version 6, I've told the developers that I'm irate and consider them to be insanely stupid. 😠

v6.4.2 is out. Great, another pretend final version while we continue what amounts to a beta-test of this ridicuous v6.x. Yes, I told them my perspective on this annoying nonsense. One of these days, maybe it will be worth owning, but not yet. 😖

v6.4.1 is an improvement, making the layout a bit more reliable. But it doesn't take much for it to go haywire again. I'm using it. I'm daily correcting it. Sometimes, after a Restart, the layout is wrong again. Quitting and restarting the app typically wakes it up again into coherence. All in all, v6.x is still a disappointment. 😔

I'm sorry to say that v6.3.1 only makes things worse. (1) Certain menubar icons, the same ones that jumped back behind the Bartender icon after system Restart, are now invisible to Bartender. Gone. You can't do anything with them. - - I've been in contact with the dev and gotten nowhere. I'd beta tested v6.3.1 for them, pointed out this worsening problem, attempted to hypothesize the cause and... this faulty version was released anyway. Deja vu Apple beta testing. (2) Pasting in the license Key from anything but Apple's system copy/paste system continues to fail. Again, they know about it and haven't fixed it. - - I'm about to give up.
